Jason Lock Productions is run by Jason Lock and Andrew Swarbrick, who met whilst studying their degrees at Newport School of Film and Photography back in the 1990’s. Between them they have over 40 years experience in the field of Film, TV, Advertising and Editorial/Photojournalist Photography.

For me, film is all about meeting people and gaining new experiences. I’ve long enjoyed watching the way people interact with each other or within their environment. It is about capturing those moments. I gained a degree in Film and Photography at Newport College Gwent. This education gave me a real insight into what it takes to capture and create strong imagery, the skills I turn to on each and every commission.

After graduating I started my professional career as a staff newspaper photographer in South Wales. Relocating to Manchester in 1998, I have been freelancing for a variety of clients with commissions ranging from news events, magazine assignments, and charitable organisations to business clients.

Due to client demand, I extended my photographic service to cover film commissions.

I now draw on not only my 17 years of professional photography but also my film school education which plays an important role in my ability to direct and create productions that are visually strong and engaging.

My transition into film production has been recognised by TV & Film camera and editing equipment manufacturers Blackmagic Design, for whom I fulfil a role as one of their UK Ambassadors.

Also a graduate of Newport Film School,  I am a film editor and take care of all the company’s post production needs. I have edited TV series, TV Commercials and music videos for a multitude of high profile clients. I have also had the pleasure of working for directors such as Danny Boyle and Tim Burton and advertising agencies such as Saatchi.

Editing to me is crafting footage into an engaging and emotive story which effectively promotes the client’s message. A successful edit is one were you cannot see the involvement of the editor, the pictures and story just seems to happen and flow naturally. Whilst Jason likes his motorbikes, I prefer the peddle kind and am a big fan of BMXing.
